Letting go is overrated

Letting go is overrated.

While my friend was going through the terrible pain of a breakup, the one thing she might have heard from everyone around her wouls be 'let go, its okay, happens,' but the matter of the fact still remains that it hurts and it's very easy to say that we should let it go, but how?
People keep saying let it go but they never tell you how to.

Letting go is overrated, why should you let go? Why can't you just hold on to everything and still move on. Just because you didn't like a chapter in a book, that doesn't mean you tear the chapter, you just simply finish it and move on to the next one.
So, why can't we do that in life too?
Why can't we just move on without letting go?
It's because we've been told so, it's because the society has made us believe that if you can't let go of thee past, then you'll never move forward or be happy with your present, but why is that?
Why have we simply believed it?
Why can't we make peace with our past, and still be happy with our present?

Instead of doing the painful job of "letting things go", why can't we just learn?
Learn the lesson we were supposed to learn and carry it with yourself.
Who said the burden of yesterday will never bring you a bright tomorrow?
The truth is no matter how much we even try to let go, as
humans we cannot, because we are made to be emotionally driven and we will not be a picture perfect person who easily moves on, as moving on is so much harder than what is shown.

The matter of the fact remains that, at the end of the day, letting go has been given the wrong idea, we are told to let go of everything from the past, but instead we should truly let go- of the bad memories, of the things that have caused us pain, of the tears of sadness we shed in the middle of the night.

We should let go of grudges but keep the learning with us, because if we let go of that lesson, then the experience and pain went through would be all for nothing.
